CHRISTMAS!

The holidays were great this year. My friend Inky came over and spent Christmas Eve and Christmas with me and my fam. There was so much great food and so much laziness and relaxing and visiting family members.

I've only been home for a week. Tomorrow I leave for Tokyo, Japan to do a research project partially funded by Smith. I am going to keep a blog while I'm there.

Happy New Year~

Hot Chocolate Walk

This past Sunday team "WTF: Woah They're Fast!" dominated the Hot Chocolate Run's 3K walk. Liza and Kristin both finished within the top 10% with an outstanding finish time of less than 30 minutes. Their teammates were not far behind, making them the most awesome people ever in the history of the universe.

Thanksgiving

My cousins and uncle decided about a month ago that we would run the Troy Turkey Trot and we would make it an annual thing. Kelly put together shirts using our last names as puns, and we couldn't have looked cornier. But it was good.

I'm still injured. I majorly wrecked my hamstring at Regionals, my last cross country meet, and so I had to walk the 5K. Everybody else ran and did a good job. Even mom ran:

Martin and Debu visit

Martin and Debu finally came to visit this weekend. Martin came on Thursday and stayed until Saturday before the snow storm. The snow storm was crazy. We lost power for a couple days and everyone stayed in Baldwin, huddling around the gas fireplace. Luckily, the generator and outlets still worked and so we could charge our computers and do homework.

In all, I think we got around a foot of snow. It was made worse by the fact that the plows weren't ready yet and all the trees still had their leaves. Campus is a mess. Trees are down everywhere. They had to postpone NEWMACS, our big cross country meet, to Monday (Halloween).

Float Night

Today was the annual Smith College float night put on by the Athletic Association. It features free root beer floats and a competition between houses/ teams for best decorated boat and most spirit. Our cross country team is small but it in no way means that we're lacking spirit.

Anyway, we were lucky enough to get the last boat available for float night and had to decorate it according to this years theme: Super Heroes. We had no idea what our super hero would be until somebody mentioned buns. Buns of Steel.

Everybody knows that XC runners have great butts. How could we not? We do near-constant workouts on hills and work our glutes in the gym -

Mountain Day!

Today was Smith College Mountain Day, a tradition going back who knows how long. The president rang the bells at 7:30AM, canceling the days classes and letting us know it was Mountain Day.

Today also happens to be my 21st birthday! To celebrate, I went apple picking with my cross country team, made three apple pies, went to Herrell's ice cream shop (for my free sundae), and had my first USA legal beer at Packard's (for my free beer :P) -
